Selling on Etsy means navigating a surprisingly complex fee structure. Every sale triggers multiple fee types — and many sellers are shocked when they realize how much actually goes to Etsy before they see a cent.
Here is the complete breakdown of every fee Etsy charges in 2026:
The core fee. Etsy charges 6.5% of your listing price — which includes the shipping price you charge the buyer. This is the largest single fee and applies to every sale.
Important: Etsy charges the 6.5% transaction fee on the full listing price before any discount or coupon is applied. If you offer a 20% coupon, Etsy still calculates their cut on the original price. This means discounts come almost entirely out of your own pocket, not Etsy's.
When buyers pay via Etsy Payments (which is now mandatory in most countries), Etsy charges a payment processing fee of 3% of the transaction total plus a flat $0.25. This fee is applied to the discounted total, unlike the transaction fee.
Etsy charges $0.20 to list a product. This fee renews every 4 months, or immediately when an item sells. For active sellers, it adds up quickly across a large catalog. Our calculator includes this per-sale cost.
This fee varies slightly by country and is charged on the transaction amount. It covers Etsy's regulatory compliance costs and is typically around 0.5% of the sale total.
